Bobyard

Bobyard builds AI software that automates construction cost estimation for trade contractors. The core workflow — called a "takeoff" — requires estimators to manually measure and count materials from architectural blueprints before submitting a bid. It is slow, error-prone, and caps how many jobs a contractor can pursue. Bobyard's platform uses computer vision and NLP to read those drawings automatically, extracting quantities and organizing them into a priced estimate inside the tool. The system automates up to 70% of the takeoff process and cuts time by 50–90%, enabling contractors to submit 3–5x more bids per estimator without hiring more staff. Founded in 2023 by Stanford-trained engineer Michael Ding, Bobyard started in landscaping and has since launched trade-specific AI modules for electrical, plumbing, finishes (flooring, drywall, paint, insulation, doors/windows), and mechanical trades. Customers are active commercial contractors — specialty subs and general contractors — across the U.S. The company is Series A–stage, SF-based, and selling into a $60B+ estimating market that still runs largely on spreadsheets and rulers.
