Emerald AI makes software that turns AI data centers into power-flexible grid assets. Its core product, Emerald Conductor, sits between electric utilities and data centers in real time — receiving grid stress signals, then dynamically adjusting AI workload scheduling and onsite energy resources (batteries, generators) to cut power draw without dropping critical compute jobs. Think of it as a two-sided broker: utilities get a dispatchable load they can call on like a generator; data centers get faster grid interconnection and potential revenue from grid services. Founded in 2024 by Varun Sivaram (former CTO of ReNew Energy, former CSO of Ørsted), the company launched from stealth in summer 2025. Its software-only approach is hardware-agnostic — no sensitive model data is accessed — and is already integrated with NVIDIA's DSX stack. Customers span AI hyperscalers, data center operators, and electric utilities. The company estimates its technology could unlock over 100 GW of latent capacity on the existing U.S. grid.
