K2 Space builds large, high-power satellite platforms for commercial and government customers. Founded in 2022 by brothers Karan and Neel Kunjur (both ex-SpaceX), the company bet against the decade-long smallsat trend: falling launch costs from Starship, New Glenn, and Falcon 9 now make it economical to fly much bigger, more capable spacecraft. Their flagship "Mega Class" bus delivers up to 100 kW of power per satellite and operates across LEO, MEO, GEO, and cislunar orbits — roughly 10× the power of comparable smallsat buses. K2 is vertically integrated across avionics, custom silicon (ASIC/FPGA), solar arrays, flight software, a proprietary 20 kW Hall-effect electric thruster, and ground systems. Customers include the U.S. Space Force (Protected Tactical Satcom-Global program), Anduril (Golden Dome missile defense), and SES (next-generation MEO network). The company's 180,000 sq ft factory in Torrance, CA is designed to manufacture up to 100 satellites per year.
