Shield AI builds autonomous military aircraft and the AI software that pilots them. Its core product is Hivemind—an AI pilot that flies drones and aircraft without GPS or a human in the loop, even in GPS-denied, communications-jammed environments. Hivemind has been deployed in live combat operations since 2018. The hardware line includes the V-BAT, a vertical-takeoff ISR drone used by the U.S. military, U.S. Coast Guard, Japan's Navy, and the Dutch Navy; and the X-BAT, a new autonomous combat aircraft unveiled in October 2025, targeting its first test flight in 2026.
